Character Data¶
The CharacterData folder contains example CharacterData assets used by RuntimeKit.
These assets define playable character configurations and act as the primary entry point for connecting RuntimeKit runtime systems with exported Snap Studio Pro content.
CharacterData assets reference animation definitions, prefabs, icons, and input bindings, allowing character behaviour to be configured through data rather than code.
Belongs Here¶
- CharacterData assets
- Playable character definitions
- Character configuration assets
- RuntimeKit character setup data
- Example character content
Does Not Belong Here¶
- AnimationDefinition assets
- Runtime behaviours
- Prefabs
- Sprite resources
- Editor tooling
Related Folders¶
| Folder | Purpose |
|---|---|
| AnimationDefinitions | Provides animation configuration used by characters |
| Prefabs | CharacterData assets commonly reference runtime character prefabs |
| Resources/Sprites | Supplies sprite content used by animations |
| Runtime/Characters | Runtime character systems consume CharacterData assets |
Design Notes¶
CharacterData assets exist to centralise character configuration.
Rather than embedding references directly into runtime components, RuntimeKit uses CharacterData assets to describe:
- Character display information
- Character prefabs
- Animation definitions
- Input bindings
- Runtime character configuration
This approach keeps runtime systems data-driven and easier to extend.
Usage Notes¶
CharacterData assets are commonly used by:
- Character selection systems
- Character swapping systems
- Runtime spawning workflows
- Demo scene character management
The included examples demonstrate the expected setup for RuntimeKit-compatible characters and can be duplicated, modified, or replaced with custom content.
