Animation Definitions¶
The AnimationDefinitions folder contains example AnimationDefinition assets used by RuntimeKit.
These assets describe how exported Snap Studio Pro sprite animations should be loaded, organised, and played at runtime.
AnimationDefinitions provide the bridge between exported sprite content and RuntimeKit animation playback systems.
Belongs Here¶
- AnimationDefinition assets
- Directional animation configurations
- Animation playback definitions
- Runtime animation setup assets
- Example animation configurations
Does Not Belong Here¶
- CharacterData assets
- Runtime behaviours
- Prefabs
- Sprite resources
- Editor tooling
Related Folders¶
| Folder | Purpose |
|---|---|
| CharacterData | References AnimationDefinition assets |
| Resources/Sprites | Contains sprite assets referenced by animation definitions |
| Runtime/Characters | Runtime animation systems consume animation definitions |
Design Notes¶
AnimationDefinition assets describe animation data rather than animation behaviour.
They define:
- Available animation states
- Direction support
- Frame rates
- Sprite resource locations
- Default animation settings
Runtime playback logic remains inside RuntimeKit character systems.
Usage Notes¶
AnimationDefinitions are typically referenced by CharacterData assets.
The included examples demonstrate the expected structure for exported Snap Studio Pro animation content and can be duplicated or modified to support custom characters.
Changes to sprite folder structures may require updating the resource paths referenced by AnimationDefinition assets.
