Scriptable Objects

The ScriptableObjects folder contains reusable data assets used by RuntimeKit.

These assets define character configuration, animation setup, and other runtime data that should be authored outside of scene objects and runtime components.

ScriptableObjects allow RuntimeKit systems to remain data-driven, making it easier to create, modify, and test exported Snap Studio Pro content without changing code.

Belongs Here

  • Character definitions
  • Animation definitions
  • Reusable runtime configuration assets
  • Data-driven runtime content
  • Asset-based runtime settings

Does Not Belong Here

  • Runtime behaviour components
  • Managers
  • Input systems
  • Camera systems
  • Scene-specific logic
  • Editor tooling

Examples of assets commonly found in this folder include:

  • CharacterData
  • AnimationDefinition
Folder Purpose
Characters Consumes character and animation definitions
Data Supporting runtime data structures referenced by ScriptableObjects
Samples Contains example ScriptableObject assets used by demo scenes

Design Notes

ScriptableObjects should describe data rather than perform behaviour.

Runtime systems should read from these assets, while gameplay logic remains inside runtime components.

Keeping data separate from behaviour makes RuntimeKit easier to extend, easier to prototype with, and easier to understand.
