Data

The Data folder contains lightweight runtime data structures used by RuntimeKit.

These types are usually serializable models, bindings, or small containers referenced by RuntimeKit ScriptableObjects and runtime systems.

Data classes should describe configuration or relationships. They should not own scene behaviour, update loops, or runtime orchestration.

Belongs Here

  • Serializable data models
  • Input-to-animation bindings
  • Lightweight runtime configuration structures
  • Data containers referenced by ScriptableObjects
  • Shared runtime DTO-style types

Does Not Belong Here

  • MonoBehaviour components
  • ScriptableObject assets
  • Runtime managers
  • Editor tooling
  • Sample prefabs
  • Sample sprites

Examples of systems commonly found in this folder include:

  • ActionBinding
Folder Purpose
ScriptableObjects Uses data structures to define reusable runtime assets
Characters Runtime character systems consume configured data
Controls Input systems may use binding data to trigger runtime actions

Design Notes

Data types should remain simple and predictable.

If a class begins to manage scene state, run update logic, or coordinate other systems, it probably belongs in a runtime behaviour folder rather than Data.

Keep this folder focused on small, reusable structures that support RuntimeKit’s data-driven workflow.
