Snap Studio Pro โ RuntimeKit¶
RuntimeKit is a free bonus playground included with Snap Studio Pro.
It provides a lightweight runtime environment for testing sprites, animations, and character exports created with Snap Studio Pro in a live Unity scene.
RuntimeKit is intentionally separate from the main Snap Studio Pro editor tooling. It is useful for prototyping and validating exported assets, but it is not a supported gameplay framework.
Whatโs Inside¶
RuntimeKit is a small, self-contained runtime demo system built to help bring Snap exports to life.
It includes:
- A modular 2D top-down controller
- Support for Snap-exported SpriteSheets
- A clean, component-driven architecture that is easy to inspect and extend
You'll find:
- Preconfigured demo scenes
- Character prefab examples
- Health, animation playback, and character swapping systems
- CharacterData and AnimationDefinition assets
- Runtime testing and validation tools for exported animations
Purpose¶
RuntimeKit exists to help developers quickly answer questions such as:
- Did my exported animation frames load correctly?
- Do my directional sprites play in the expected direction?
- Does my character look right in a simple playable scene?
- Are my exported idle, walk, action, and death animations usable at runtime?
It is designed as a testing and prototyping environment, not a production gameplay framework.
What This Is NOT¶
RuntimeKit does not include:
- Combat systems
- AI systems
- Inventory systems
- Quest systems
- Save systems
- Networking
- Audio pipelines
- Camera shake or advanced visual effects
- A complete or commercial-ready game engine
If you need those systems, RuntimeKit is intended to be a starting point rather than a finished solution.
Folder Structure¶
| Folder | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Runtime | Runtime components, controllers, managers, and gameplay demo systems |
| Editor | Optional Unity Editor tooling used to support RuntimeKit workflows |
| Samples | Example prefabs, ScriptableObjects, sprites, and demo content |
Assembly Layout¶
RuntimeKit is split into separate runtime and editor assemblies.
| Assembly | Purpose |
|---|---|
| RevGaming.SnapStudioPro.RuntimeKit | Runtime/demo code used during play mode |
| RevGaming.SnapStudioPro.RuntimeKit.EditorTools | Editor-only setup and utility tools |
The runtime assembly does not depend on the editor assembly.
How You Can Use It¶
You are welcome to:
- Use it in personal projects
- Use it in commercial projects
- Learn from it
- Prototype with it
- Modify it
- Extend it to suit your own needs
You may also remove it entirely if you do not require runtime testing functionality.
Usage Restrictions¶
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or repackage RuntimeKit
- Ship it as part of your own Unity asset or toolkit
- Extract and redistribute included demo content outside the terms of the Snap Studio Pro license
Refer to the included RuntimeKit license documentation for full details.
Support Boundary¶
RuntimeKit is provided as a bonus feature alongside Snap Studio Pro.
Official support focuses on the Snap Studio Pro editor tooling and export workflows.
RuntimeKit is included to make exported assets easier to test, learn from, and prototype with. While it may receive improvements over time, it should be considered an unsupported bonus rather than a core product feature.
Design Intent¶
RuntimeKit should remain:
- Lightweight
- Easy to understand
- Easy to modify
- Easy to remove
It is allowed to be useful.
It is allowed to be polished.
It is not intended to become a second framework inside Snap Studio Pro.
Final Notes¶
RuntimeKit exists to help you bring your Snap exports to life.
Test them.
Play with them.
Learn from them.
Extend them.
And if it helps accelerate your own project, then it has done exactly what it was built to do.
