Purpose

Owns rendering-focused preview utilities and rendering-side preview helpers used by Snap Studio Pro.

This territory is responsible for rendering preview prefab instances to textures, preview render classification, and lightweight rendering-side preview helpers without owning preview workflow orchestration.

Owns

  • Rendering-side preview helpers
  • Prefab-to-texture rendering utilities
  • Preview render classification
  • Render-type analysis
  • Rendering-focused preview capture helpers
  • Rendering-safe preview instance workflows

Does NOT Own

  • Preview workflow orchestration
  • Preview scene lifecycle ownership
  • Export orchestration
  • Panel UI
  • Editor interaction/input handling
  • Feature-level business workflows

Allowed Dependencies

Preview may depend on:

  • Rendering abstractions
  • Camera/render utilities
  • Prefab abstractions
  • Diagnostics
  • Unity rendering APIs

Preview should avoid depending on:

  • Panels
  • Window
  • High-level Preview orchestration systems
  • Feature workflow coordinators

Notes

This folder exists to provide rendering-side preview helpers without collapsing preview orchestration into Rendering.

Rendering.Preview owns: - how preview rendering helpers operate - prefab render classification - rendering-focused preview utilities

Preview (Editor/Preview) owns: - scene coordination - lifecycle orchestration - preview interaction - application-facing workflows

This distinction is important.

The existence of both: - Preview/ - Rendering/Preview/

is intentional.

One is orchestration territory. One is implementation/helper territory.

Prefab classification systems are intentionally located here because they influence rendering and capture behaviour rather than editor workflow ownership.

Future Candidates

  • Continue protecting the distinction between Preview orchestration and Rendering preview helpers.
  • Avoid allowing scene lifecycle ownership into Rendering.Preview.
  • Keep rendering helpers implementation-focused and reusable.
  • Maintain safe cleanup and camera lifecycle handling.
