Lighting¶
Purpose¶
Owns editor UI panels for configuring preview lighting inside Snap Studio Pro.
This territory provides user-facing controls for studio lighting setups, light intensity, exposure, shadows, colors, rotations, and lighting preset workflows while delegating lighting implementation to pipeline-aware lighting systems.
Owns¶
- Lighting settings UI
- Exposure controls
- Per-light editing UI
- Lighting preset UI
- Studio lighting workflows
- Main light controls
- Shadow toggle UI
- User-facing lighting coordination
Does NOT Own¶
- Lighting implementation
- Rendering pipeline ownership
- Preview scene lifecycle ownership
- Rendering orchestration
- Export execution
- Rendering implementation internals
Allowed Dependencies¶
Lighting panels may depend on:
- Lighting feature systems
- Lighting abstractions/contracts
- Preview facades
- Shared panel helpers
- Preset systems
- Unity lighting/editor APIs
Lighting panels should avoid depending directly on:
- rendering implementation systems
- export systems
- pipeline-specific rendering internals beyond exposed abstractions
Notes¶
Lighting panels coordinate user-facing lighting intent only.
Lighting systems own: - actual light creation - pipeline-specific behaviour - exposure conversion - rendering integration
StudioLightingPanel is intentionally orchestration-heavy because advanced lighting editing naturally combines: - multiple lights - preset handling - shadow settings - intensity mapping - HDRP/URP compatibility
This complexity belongs in editor UI territory rather than being hidden in rendering systems.
Future Candidates¶
- Continue separating lighting UI from pipeline implementation.
- Keep preset handling standardized.
- Maintain clear abstraction boundaries between UI and rendering behaviour.
- Avoid embedding rendering orchestration into lighting panels.
