Background¶
Purpose¶
Owns editor UI panels for configuring preview and export background appearance in Snap Studio Pro.
This territory provides user-facing controls for background styles, gradients, checkerboards, custom images, transparency, and background preset workflows while delegating background application and rendering behaviour to feature and rendering systems.
Owns¶
- Background settings UI
- Background style selection UI
- Background preset UI
- Background customization controls
- Background transparency controls
- Background texture assignment UI
- User-facing background workflow coordination
Does NOT Own¶
- Background rendering implementation
- Texture generation implementation
- Background application internals
- Rendering pipeline implementation
- Preview scene lifecycle ownership
- Export orchestration
Allowed Dependencies¶
Background panels may depend on:
- Background feature systems
- Preview facades
- Background models/settings
- Shared panel helpers
- Infrastructure preference systems
- Unity texture/editor APIs
Background panels should avoid depending directly on:
- rendering implementation systems
- pipeline-specific rendering internals
- low-level texture generation systems
Notes¶
Background panels are responsible for: - collecting user-facing background settings - routing setting changes - managing preset workflows - exposing visual customization controls
Background rendering and application behaviour belongs elsewhere.
The panel should coordinate background intent, not own rendering implementation.
This separation allows background rendering systems to remain reusable across preview and export workflows without embedding editor UI logic.
Future Candidates¶
- Continue isolating rendering implementation from panel UI.
- Keep preset handling standardized across background systems.
- Avoid pushing rendering or texture-generation logic into UI panels.
- Maintain lightweight and user-focused background editing workflows.
