ThumbnailGeneration

Purpose

Owns thumbnail generation workflows used by Snap Studio Pro prefab browsing systems.

This territory is responsible for rendering prefab thumbnails, coordinating temporary preview scenes for thumbnail generation, and managing thumbnail production workflows without owning prefab repositories or preview editor workflows.

Owns

  • Thumbnail generation workflows
  • Thumbnail preview-scene coordination
  • Thumbnail rendering orchestration
  • Thumbnail capture helpers
  • Thumbnail progress tracking
  • Thumbnail camera coordination
  • Thumbnail production lifecycle handling

Does NOT Own

  • Prefab repository ownership
  • Main preview scene lifecycle ownership
  • Export orchestration
  • Panel UI layout ownership
  • General rendering implementation
  • Production capture workflows

Allowed Dependencies

ThumbnailGeneration may depend on:

  • Rendering abstractions
  • Prefab abstractions/services
  • Thumbnail cache systems
  • Infrastructure progress systems
  • Unity preview scene/rendering APIs

ThumbnailGeneration should avoid depending on:

  • export orchestration systems
  • panel orchestration systems
  • main preview workflow systems

Notes

Thumbnail generation is intentionally isolated from the main Preview workflow systems.

ThumbnailGeneration owns: - temporary thumbnail rendering environments - thumbnail production coordination - thumbnail lifecycle cleanup - thumbnail-specific rendering flows

Preview owns: - interactive editor preview workflows

Export owns: - production export workflows

This separation is important because thumbnail generation has very different lifecycle and performance requirements from interactive preview systems.

Temporary preview scene ownership and cleanup are intentionally explicit here to avoid: - leaked preview scenes - leaked cameras - leaked lighting objects - thumbnail render contamination

Future Candidates

  • Continue isolating thumbnail workflows from Preview and Export systems.
  • Maintain explicit temporary resource cleanup ownership.
  • Avoid allowing thumbnail generation to become a secondary preview lifecycle system.
  • Continue keeping thumbnail generation production-focused and lightweight.
