Snap Studio Pro β€” Quickstart

Turn a 3D prefab into a polished 2D sprite in about a minute. This page gets you to your first export; the full guide lives online at https://revandrab.github.io/SnapStudioPro_Base/.

Requires Unity 6+. Works with the Built-in Render Pipeline, URP, and HDRP β€” Snap detects your pipeline and routes rendering automatically. The capture pipeline is Editor-only; for the few small assemblies that do reach a player build, see What reaches your build in the online guide.

1. Open the window

Tools β†’ Rev Gaming β†’ Snap Studio Pro

The window opens on the Basic tab β€” the only tab you need for your first export.

2. Load a prefab

Drag any prefab from your Project window onto the Drag & Drop Prefab Here zone. It appears in the live preview immediately.

  • Left-drag in the preview to rotate the prefab. This rotation is baked into the export, so frame it how you want the final sprite to look.
  • Snap auto-frames and lights the prefab for you. You can override framing, lighting, and background later β€” but you don't have to touch any of it to get a clean result now.

3. Export

In the Quick Export section:

  1. Pick a Resolution β€” 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, or Custom. Default is 512.
  2. Pick a Format β€” PNG (transparent) is the default and the right choice for most sprites.
  3. Choose an export folder. It must be inside your project's Assets/ folder so Unity can import the result.
  4. Click Export.

Your sprite lands in the folder you chose, already imported as a Unity Sprite and ready to drop into a scene, UI, or Sprite Renderer.

That's a complete first export. Everything below is optional power for when you need it.

Where to go next

Each tab is a focused workflow. Reach for one when you have that specific goal:

Tab Use it when you want to…
Basic Capture a single sprite fast (you just did this).
Advanced Fine-tune camera, lighting, background, styling, and post-processing.
Static Sprite Animation Build directional (4/8/16-way) sprite sets for characters.
Character Animation Export an animation clip as frames, a spritesheet, or a GIF.
Environment Extract static sprites from props and scenery.
Shadows Add and tune drop shadows / shadow catchers under your captures.
Particle FX Bake a particle system into frames or a looping sequence.
VFX Graph Export VFX Graph effects (when the package is installed).

Make it game-ready

Want engine-native output β€” sprites plus an AnimatorController, clips, and a ready-to-drop prefab β€” instead of loose PNGs?

  • Look for the Make Game-Ready buttons in the capture tabs, or
  • Open Tools β†’ Rev Gaming β†’ Utilities β†’ Snap Studio Pro β†’ Game-Ready β†’ Game-Ready Exporter.

Going further

  • Batch a whole folder of prefabs, and export multiple angles per prefab β€” see the Advanced and directional workflows.
  • Preferences β€” set your defaults (formats, sizing, folders) in one place so you're not re-configuring every session.
  • Headless / automated capture β€” Snap ships a public capture API and a JSON job runner for scripted, batch, and CI-style asset generation.
