User Guide

Snap Studio Pro is task-first: you don't have to read this guide top to bottom. Find the goal that matches what you're trying to make, open that page, and follow it. Every workflow is a variation on the same core loop β€” load a prefab, frame it, export it β€” so once you've done Your First Sprite, the rest will feel familiar.

New here? Start with the one-minute version

If you've just installed Snap and want a result before anything else, do Your First Sprite first. It's the whole loop with no settings to learn. Come back here when you want more control or a specific kind of output.

Pick your workflow

Each page below covers one job β€” the goal, the exact controls, and what to expect. Reach for the one that matches what you're building.

Everyday captures

Workflow Use it when…
Capturing a Single Sprite You want one clean sprite from one prefab, with full control over resolution, format, and output folder.
Framing & Camera The auto-framing isn't quite right β€” you need to rotate the model, recentre it, or take manual camera control.
Lighting & Studio Presets You want to change how the model is lit, or apply a ready-made studio lighting look.
Backgrounds & Styling You need a transparent, solid, or gradient background, or want to style the capture.
Shadows You want a grounded contact shadow under the capture β€” or to export the shadow on its own.
Post-Processing You want a colour grade, bloom, vignette, or a stylised look β€” from a one-click preset to the full pipeline volume.

Sets and sequences

Workflow Use it when…
Animation Export Your prefab has animation clips and you want frame sequences, spritesheets, or GIFs.
Directional Capture You're making a character or object that needs 4, 8, or 16 directional views.
Game-Ready Output You want engine-ready output β€” sprites plus an AnimatorController, clips, and a drop-in prefab β€” not loose PNGs.
Batch Exporting You have many prefabs to capture with the same settings in one pass.

Effects and scenes

Workflow Use it when…
Particle FX Baking You want to bake a particle system down to a sprite sequence or sheet.
VFX Graph Export You're capturing a Visual Effect Graph effect to 2D frames.
Environment Extraction You want to pull sprites out of a scene or environment rather than a single prefab.

Going deeper

When you're comfortable with the workflows, the Advanced section covers the machinery underneath:
