Fixing Transparent Export on URP

Symptom: your live preview looks correct β€” the subject on a transparent background β€” but the exported image has a solid black (or opaque) background.

This happens on some URP projects because the pipeline is configured to discard the alpha channel during post-processing. Snap Studio Pro renders your capture with a transparent clear, but URP strips the alpha on the way out, so the saved image comes back fully opaque. Your preview still looks right because it is drawn a different way β€” which is what makes this failure easy to miss until you open the PNG in your game.

Snap Studio Pro never changes your render settings for you, so here is the one-time fix.

The 60-second fix

The fix in writing

You need URP to keep the alpha channel. Either of these does it β€” the first is the usual one:

  1. Turn on Alpha Processing (recommended)
    • Select your URP Renderer asset (the Universal Renderer Data your active pipeline uses).
    • In the Inspector, under Post-processing, enable Alpha Processing.
  2. …or set a Color Buffer Format that keeps alpha
    • Select your URP Asset (the Universal Render Pipeline Asset).
    • Set the Color Buffer Format / HDR precision to one that includes an alpha channel.

Not sure which asset is which?

Your active URP Asset is set in Project Settings β†’ Graphics (Scriptable Render Pipeline Settings). The Renderer it uses is listed on that asset under its Renderer List. The Alpha Processing toggle lives on the Renderer, not the pipeline asset.

Once alpha is preserved, run your export again. The next transparent capture saves with a proper transparent background, and Snap Studio Pro's warning stands down for the rest of the session.

Why doesn't Snap Studio Pro just fix it for me?

By design. Your render pipeline settings are yours. Snap Studio Pro flags the problem at the exact moment it bites and points you at the one toggle to flip β€” but it never silently edits your project's rendering configuration behind your back. You keep the keys.
