Snap Studio Pro

Snap Studio Pro is a professional-grade prefab snapshot and 2D asset generation toolkit for Unity 6+. Built entirely for the Unity Editor, Snap Studio Pro allows developers to capture high-quality sprites, icons, animations, directional assets, thumbnails, and stylised renders directly from prefabs — with full support for Built-in RP, URP, and HDRP. The goal is simple: **Take real 3D Unity content and turn it into polished 2D assets quickly, consistently, and without fighting your pipeline.**

What Is Snap Studio Pro?

Snap Studio Pro is an editor-only production tool designed for:

  • Sprite generation
  • Animation frame export
  • Multi-angle directional capture
  • Stylised prefab rendering
  • Batch exporting
  • UI icon generation
  • Environment/static sprite extraction
  • Thumbnail generation
  • Automated framing and lighting workflows

It is not a runtime framework.

It does not inject gameplay systems into your project.

It exists purely to improve asset production workflows inside the Unity Editor.

Core Features

### 🎥 Animation Export Export full animation clips, directional spritesheets, frame sequences, and GIFs directly from animated prefabs.
### 📸 Auto Framing Automatically frame prefabs using bounds-aware camera positioning and consistent sizing logic.
### 💡 Studio Lighting Built-in 3-point lighting workflows with presets, overrides, and render-pipeline-aware behaviour.
### 🧭 Directional Capture Generate 4, 8, or 16-direction sprite exports for top-down and side-scrolling games.
### 🎨 Background & Styling Use gradients, transparency, checkerboards, shadows, overlays, post-processing, and stylised export presets.
### ⚡ Massive Batch Exporting Export thousands of captures asynchronously while keeping the Unity Editor responsive.

Built for Real Unity Projects

Snap Studio Pro was developed against real production assets across multiple render pipelines and Unity versions.

The architecture is heavily modular and pipeline-aware:

  • Built-in Render Pipeline
  • Universal Render Pipeline (URP)
  • High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP)

Snap automatically routes rendering behaviour through the correct pipeline implementations while maintaining shared editor workflows.

Documentation Structure

The documentation is split into several major sections:

Section Purpose
Getting Started Installation, setup, compatibility, and editor entry points
User Guide Real export workflows and feature usage
Systems Reference Rendering, preview, and pipeline internals
Editor Architecture Internal tooling architecture and editor systems
Runtime Kit Optional demo/runtime support scripts
Metadata Prefab metadata systems and filtering

Philosophy

Start simple. Add complexity only when you need it. Snap Studio Pro is designed so most users can get high-quality exports immediately using the default workflows — while still exposing deeper rendering and export systems for advanced pipelines.

Important Notes

Unity Version Support

Snap Studio Pro is officially supported on Unity 6+.

Earlier versions may work, but are not officially tested or supported.

Editor-first — and what actually reaches a build

The capture pipeline is Editor-only. The window, preview, framing, lighting, camera systems and every exporter live in Editor assemblies and are never compiled into a player.

Four small assemblies are not Editor-gated: PrefabMetadata and Attributes (~170 lines, the components that tag your prefabs for filtering), the optional RuntimeKit demo scripts (~950 lines), and the bundled uGIF encoder (~1,220 lines). Nothing in the capture pipeline runs at runtime, and deleting RuntimeKit/ and ThirdParty/ removes all but ~170 lines of it.

What reaches your build covers this in full.

Example assets are not included

The characters, environments, props, and other assets shown in screenshots throughout this documentation are not included with Snap Studio Pro. They are used purely for demonstration.
